Enhancing Support for Breast Cancer Survivors
“Early Detection Saves Lives” – This is our most important message. Pink Ribbon underwrites the cost of screening and diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, CT Scans, MRI’s and other testing needed to help diagnose breast cancer. To date, we have underwritten the cost of these test in the amount of $288,000 and for approximately 2,400 men and women. In 2023 we were able to support over 200 women with one of these life-saving test at no cost. Although we place no restrictions on those receiving the testing, the majority of women who are able to take advantage of this service are those who are unemployed, uninsured, underinsured or who simply don’t have the means to pay for the service.
Breast cancer is often found after symptoms appear, but many women with breast cancer have no symptoms. This is why regular breast cancer screening is so important. “Early Detection Saves Lives” and cancer can be detected before it can be felt. Our programs help women detect breast cancer at its earliest stage. Breast Cancer detected and treated earlier is easier to treat and has a better survival rate. Breast Cancer screening also decreases healthcare costs and is usually less expensive to treat and can provide peace of mind and a reminder of the importance of focusing on overall health and wellness.
The only restriction placed on those benefiting from our programs is the recipients must live in our service area. No restrictions are placed on age, sex, race or income.
