McColly Charities offered to match up to $ 5,000 during the Pink Ribbon Society Matching Funds Campaign. Pink Ribbon solicited the community through face book, Go Fund Me and The Times asking for contributions to the campaign.
Pink Ribbon was in jeopardy of having to close their doors due to lack of revenue during 2019. The PRS Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon, which generates the majority of their fundraising revenue, had to be cancelled because of the pandemic.
According to Pink Ribbon President, Ann Peters, “Pink Ribbon raised over $ 7,000 in donations from many supporters and contributors from November 19 to December 31, 2020. McColly Charities has added to the funds with a contribution of $ 5,000.
Peters added, our sincere appreciation to McColly Charities and all of our family, friends and contributors who supported this fundraiser. It is because of this kind of support that we will be able to keep the doors of Pink Ribbon Society open during 2021. We will be able to help those in our community who are in need of life saving mammograms and ultrasounds. These funds will also support our patient assistance program with prepaid gift cards for groceries, transportation, and medical supplies as well as our wig reimbursement program for those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.”
The 2020 19th Annual Pink Ribbon Society Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon is tentatively scheduled for September 26, pending the affects of Covid 19 in the community.
