Lake County’s Community Foundation Receives $5,000 Grant

June 5, 2025

We are pleased to announce that Pink Ribbon Society, Inc. has received a $5,000 grant from the Legacy Foundation, Lake County’s community foundation, to support the expansion of its Breast Care Testing Program.

For over 24 years, Pink Ribbon Society has served the community through a variety of programs dedicated to individuals whose lives have been affected by breast cancer. Pink Ribbon programs are open to all, with no restrictions based on sex, age, race, or income. The majority of those served come from underserved communities and lack the financial resources to access necessary breast health services.

To date, Pink Ribbon Society has supported more than 10,000 individuals through its programs, with approximately 4,000 receiving vital breast care testing.

This grant will allow Pink Ribbon to expand services that include screening and diagnostic mammograms, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds—for individuals who are unemployed, uninsured, underinsured, or who simply do not have the resources to pay for these lifesaving tests.

“This funding from Legacy Foundation helps us continue our mission of removing barriers to breast health,” said Ann Peters, Founder and President of Pink Ribbon Society. “Early detection saves lives, and this grant ensures that more women in our community will have access to the testing they need—regardless of their financial situation.”

The Legacy Foundation invests in nonprofit services and capacity-building efforts throughout Lake County, Indiana. Since its founding in 1992, and thanks to the generosity of its broad donor base, the foundation has awarded more than $40 million in grants and scholarships to nonprofit organizations and individuals.
