South Shore Ladies Morning Golf League

south shoreShown is Pink Ribbon Society President, Ann Peters and South Shore Ladies Thursday Morning Golf League President, Mary Lou Thompson at Thursday’s annual golf outing fund raiser.  Last year, the ladies donated over $ 6,000. Since their first donation in 2012, the PRS has received over $ 12,000.  A final contribution for this year is yet to be received, but knowing the generosity of this league, we know it’s going to be great.

In 2012 the league made a decision to keep their donation “local”, helping the men and women of our community with the special needs of those recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Pink Ribbon supports the men and women of Lake, Porter, Jasper and Newton Counties only through the underwriting of mammograms, wigs, prosthesis, paid gift cards, etc.  To date the Pink Ribbon has returned over $ 250,000 to local individuals and other breast cancer organizations to help the cause.

Thanks to our lady golfers and their supporters for their continued efforts to help those from our community who are beginning their journey to becoming life long survivors of breast cancer…..

The league’s ongoing support and friendship means so much to our organization and those we serve…..Hope to see you again next year.

IUN Nurses On The Run to help Cancer Patient

IUN Nurses On The Run – I have been asked by Veronica Valentin, a nurse at Indiana University Northwest, to pass this information along to anyone who might be interested in helping Lidia Sibakoska.  Lidia is a widowed mother of four who is medically unable to work, and has been refused medicaid….I can’t imaging why, but none the less, this is the information I have.  This is her third bout with cancer.  She is currently struggling with Inflamatory Breast Disease. A 5K Nurses On The Run is being held on Sunday, April 27th at 9:30 am at the Lake County Fair Grounds in Crown Point.  100% of the profits will be donated to Lidia and her family to help them through this difficult time.  You can run or walk, but whichever you decide to do, you will be helping a family who really needs the help. Log on to for sign up information and costs.

Had a great time last night at the Boone Grove Wolves football game. They won against South Newton 35-0…way to go Wolves. The game was dedicated to breast cancer survivors….as you can see, the team really got into the game with their pink socks. At halftime, survivor medallions were distributed to survivors..I proudly got one that shows the wolves on the front. Also, a picture of me with Wolfie!!! A little damp but we had a great time. Thanks to Chris Stark and the WolfPack Club from Boone Grove for their efforts and recognition….more to come…..
