Pink Ribbon is incredibly fortunate to have a community who supports our organization and the services and programs we provide.

Each year we are contacted by various businesses and groups who want to support Pink Ribbon Society. For the most part businesses and groups contact us during October or Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Some of them are recurring fundraisers and others just find us and appreciate the fact that our funds are kept local to our community.

The Times Media Company has been a major media supporter since the inception of Pink Ribbon. The services they have provided have been invaluable – newspaper advertising, special articles, raffle contributions, storage space, Times representation on the Pink Ribbon Committee and pretty much anything else we ask for. When we say we couldn’t do it with you, we mean it.

Strack & Van Til has also been a major supporter since our inception. They have donated desserts, centerpieces, committee representation, and gift bag products. Again, when we really need something, we know we can call on Stracks to be there for us.

For the second consecutive year, Strack & Van Til in partnership with The Times held a Round Up-Check out Challenge at all their Northwest Indiana locations. On Monday, December 12th, representatives from the Pink Ribbon Society made their way to the Crown Point Strack & Van Til on Broadway to showcase the outstanding results from October’s Checkout Challenge. All Cashiers at Strack & Van Til, Ultra Foods and Town & Country, asked customers if they would like to “round-up” their order to the nearest dollar. After a successful month, the Pink Ribbon Society received $45,688.44 Funds raised during Breast Cancer Awareness Month will support the programs of Pink Ribbon Society, serving the men and women of Lake, Porter, Jasper and Newton counties who struggle with the diagnosis of breast cancer. Pink Ribbon has returned over $400,000 back to the community through numerous programs. Pictured is Sarah Matern, Cashier at Valparaiso Town & Country, with President Ann Peters of Pink Ribbon Society. Ann rewarded Sarah with an Applebee’s gift card thanking her for being one of the top four fundraising cashiers in Indiana. Since no one fights alone, Pink Ribbon Society and Strack & Van Til would like to offer a big thanks to the customers for donating their change, helping make this check presentation possible. Last year, Pink Ribbon received over $48,000 from the Check Out Challenge. These generous donations make it possible for Pink Ribbon Society to continue our many programs in Lake, Porter, Jasper and Newton Counties in Northwest Indiana. Thank you Stracks, Ultra, Town & Country and The Times for your ongoing support of Pink Ribbon Society.

Another perfect example of how Stracks has supported Pink Ribbon in a BIG way is through their Check Out Challenge Program. To date, the Strack & Van Til Families and Times Media Company have raised and donated to Prnk Ribbon over $ 94,000 during their annual Check Out Challenge.

Southshore Ladies Thursday Morning Golf League – the ladies of the Thursday Morning Golf League have become our friends. Three years ago, they made the decision that they wanted to keep the money their raise at their annual golf outing for breast cancer in the local community to support local breast cancer patients.

Pink Ribbon Society Secretary/Treasurer, Maura Rowley (left) and Pink Ribbon Founder/President, Ann Peters (right) are shown with the South Shore Ladies Thursday Morning Golf League President, Mary Lou Thompson. This is the fifth consecutive year the League has held a golfing event donating the proceeds to Pink Ribbon Society. To date, the league has donated over $ 24,000 - NOT including this year's contribution.....more details to come When asked why they prefer to recognize our efforts as opposed to other breast cancer organizations, they indicated it is because we keep our money local supporting the men and women of our own communities whose lives have been touched by breast cancer..... We had a great time visiting and luncheon with the ladies at the River Point Golf Club...looking forward to next year. To date the golf league has donated over $ 30.000 to the Pink Ribbon Society.

To date, they have donated over $ 30,000. Now mind you, this isn’t a huge league, but they are certainly generous. The partnership we have forged with these ladies is awesome. They are not only supporters, but have also become true friends to Pink Ribbon. Thank you, ladies. We look forward to seeing you again next year, awesome ladies.
