Once again, the tea was sold out in August two months before the actual event. Our attendance hit the 800 mark again, along with 22 vendors and 70+ raffle baskets. We have already scheduled next year’s event for Sunday, September 24, 2017. So please mark your calendars to join us at the Avalon Manor Banquet Center in Merrillville. We are making some exciting changes for 2017 so don’t miss it.
One of the highlights of our tea each year is the presentation of our community celebrity severs. The servers volunteer to spend the afternoon schmoozing with our guests, serving them their lunch and pretty much being at their disposal. Each server is presented with a beautiful Pink Ribbon apron that is raffled off after dessert is served. These aprons are much sought after items.
The Celerity Servers are an awesome representation of the involvement of our businesses and political leaders, local organizations and community advocates. Our event wouldn’t be the same without them.
Baskets Galore Raffle
The Baskets Galore Raffle this year alone netted over $ 10,000.00. The basket raffle is one of the hardest working aspects of the tea. A tremendous amount of effort is put out by each committee member to make tracks in the community by approaching businesses who will hopefully donate a product and sometimes even a filled basket for the raffle. We depend on the community businesses and individuals to provide the items we need to make the baskets outstanding. So if a Pink Ribbon Society person calls on you this year and asks for help in supporting the Baskets Galore Raffle, we hope you will be generous.
